We're going to take a look at some natural vitamins and herbs that fight and kill germs, bacteria and viruses. The information that we're going to share comes from Dr. Robert Atkins' Alternative Medicine Journal. Dr. Atkins is an authority on natural ways to cure almost any illness. Here are his three best fighters in the virus killing arsenal.VITAMIN A. Most people use vitamin C when they get a cold. At the Atkins Center, they found that Vitamin A works better. Dr. Atkins recommend a megadose of 50,000 IU per day at the first hint of a cold. Once symptoms have subsided, cut back to a normal daily dosage of 10,000 IU.
OLIVE LEAF
For over a century, herbalists have gotten remarkable results with this extract. We've found that Olive leaf contains a chemical called oleuropein, which has been shown to kill all sorts of bacteria and viruses. In addition to that, it increase your body's supply of phagocytes, the "pac man" cells that gobble up viruses and other nasty intruders. I recommend starting with 500 mgs of olive leaf extract per day, then gradually work up to 2,000 mg over the course of 6 or 7 days.
GLYCEROL MONOLAURATE
Dr. Atkins considers this his secret weapon. It is a fatty acid derivative that is naturally found in breast milk. It works by destroying the fatty coatings that allow viruses to latch onto your healthy cells. Without those coatings, the viruses quickly die. Lab tests show that glycerol monolaurate kills influenza (the flu), herpes and a dozen other viruses. Glycerol monolaurate is available in pill form under the trade name Monolaurin. For treating cold and flu, I recommend 1,800 - 3,600 mg for four or five days. Afterward, taper the dosage down to 600 - 1,200 mg daily.
